The Leaf Expander® System
Continuous force, no patient turns
The Leaf Expander® system redefines maxillary expansion by combining calibrated Ni-Ti leaf springs with a streamlined appliance design for consistent, controlled force release—without relying on patient or parent activation. Whether in mixed dentition or adolescent/adult cases, this system offers an efficient alternative to traditional screw-only expanders—with fewer visits, less compliance burden and enhanced comfort.

Leaf Expander®
Spring-activated expansion with clinician control
The Leaf Expander® uses MEMORIA® Ni-Ti leaf springs integrated into a conventional expansion framework. After cementation and removal of the clip, the springs begin to release calibrated forces (typically 450 g or 900 g) to progressively widen the maxilla. This model still allows clinician-controlled activation when needed, while eliminating daily home adjustments by the patient. Ideal for clinicians seeking predictable outcomes with reduced chair-time and improved patient comfort.

Leaf Self Expander®
True non-compliance expansion
For the ultimate in simplicity and patient comfort, the Leaf Self Expander® model removes not only patient activation but also clinician re-activation. The force release is entirely managed by the pre-compressed Ni-Ti springs, delivering continuous, predetermined expansion until the targeted widening is achieved. With options in two force levels (450 g and 900 g) and two expansion lengths (6 mm or 9 mm), this model is designed for cases where minimal intervention is preferred and compliance must not be a limiting factor.
Clinically validated.
Trusted by orthodontists worldwide.
The Leaf Expander® system is backed by years of clinical experience and numerous scientific publications confirming its effectiveness and patient comfort. Orthodontists around the world have successfully treated thousands of patients — children, adolescents, and adults — with predictable, stable transverse expansion and minimal side effects.
Clinical evidence highlights:
- Cozzani M. et al., Eur J Orthod (2019) – Demonstrated controlled skeletal expansion with stable results at 12 months.
- Lombardo L. et al., Prog Orthod (2020) – Confirmed favorable skeletal-to-dental expansion ratio and reduced tipping.
- Cozzani M. et al., Clin Orthod Res (2021) – Reported high patient comfort, no need for home activation, and high treatment acceptance.
Clinicians report smoother workflows, reduced chair-time, and high patient satisfaction, confirming the Leaf Expander® and Leaf Self Expander® as reliable, evidence-based alternatives to traditional expansion appliances.
